Why should I ship with Redline Shipping instead of FedEx direct?
FedEx is the worldwide shipping leader, but they cannot offer personalized customer service or other valuable benefits to individual customers. We’re here to bridge that gap between the behemoth shipper and individual customers. We offer valuable benefits to anyone shipping live reptiles, invertebrates, aquatics, or plants.
- We are FedEx certified to ship live, non-venomous reptiles including snakes, invertebrates, and aquatics. When you ship with us, you don't have to go through the FedEx certification process.
- With us, you can ship to and from residences. Standard FedEx reptile certifications only allow business-to-business shipping.
- Our optional Redline Shipping Insurance covers the cost of shipments that arrive late and the value of animals that arrive late and dead. Redline Shipping provides the only way to insure shipments of live reptiles and invertebrates that are shipped Priority Overnight or Standard Overnight.
- When shipping directly through FedEx, they have waived all guarantees of on-time delivery and any loss or damage to your package.
- We provide world class, personalized customer support. We are experts in live animal shipping.
- When you ship Express with Redline Shipping, you pay at least 40 percent less than FedEx retail rates. Ship with a higher volume, get an even better rate!
Protect the future of reptile keeping!
When you book a shipment, you can add a donation to USARK to help ensure the future of reptile and amphibian keeping, breeding and shipping.
100 percent of proceeds go to the United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK).
The future of the reptile and amphibian hobby/industry depends on our ability to fight legislative battles meant to take away our rights to keep/breed/ship live reptiles. We are seeing new anti-reptile legislation (reptile bans) every week. Region to region, city to city, state to state, it is going to be a continual political battle to protect our rights to keep, breed and ship reptiles. We have to develop stronger fundraising abilities to keep up this fight. USARK is fighting to protect your rights, and they need your help, support and financial commitment.
Please consider becoming a paying member of these organizations that fight for your rights. They need your support. To further the cause, please donate even a small amount each time you ship. A few dollars in the jar is not so impressive on its own, but multiply it by ten thousand shippers, donating a dollar or two each time they ship, and we will really be making a difference!
Protect your own future!
What is the Redline Rewards program?
Redline Rewards was initiated on July 29th, 2023. From this day forward, every dollar spent on shipping labels and supplies earns one Reward Point. Reward Points can be redeemed for shipping labels and supplies.
Everyone signed up for Redline Shipping, as of July 29th, 2023, was given 500 points to start off with. Every new customer signing up after that receives 500 points.
How to earn points:
- Buying shipping labels - If the cost of shipping for your label equals $67.52, you will earn 67 points.
- Insurance premiums, taxes, and charitable contributions do not earn points
- Buying supplies - If you spend $135 on supplies, you will earn 135 points.
- Taxes and shipping costs on supplies do not earn points
How to redeem points:
- Buying shipping labels - During the checkout process, where you enter your payment options, you will see a box for redeeming points. Enter in the amount of $’s worth of points you’d like to spend. Those dollars will be applied toward the cost of your label and the equivalent amount of points will be deducted from your total bank of points.
- Buying supplies - During the checkout process, where you enter your payment options, you will see a box for redeeming points. Enter in the amount of $’s worth of points you’d like to spend. Those dollars will be applied toward the cost of your goods, and the equivalent amount of points will be deducted from your total bank of points.
- If you don’t have any points available to redeem, that box will not appear.
Point Values:
- Shipping labels - each point is worth $.01, so 500 points will get you $5 toward a shipping label.
- Supplies - each point is worth $.01, so 500 points will get you $5 toward supplies
- Review your own point collection by logging into Redline Shipping and clicking on your name in the upper right corner.
- Points cannot be transferred to or combined with other accounts
- Points cannot be redeemed for cash
- Maximum of 30,000 points earned per calendar year, per customer
Do points expire?
No. Points do not expire.
Do points roll over?
Yes, accumulated points will roll over into the next year, but max out at 30,000 earned in a single calendar year. So, if you earn 30,000 points this year but don't spend them, they will roll over into the next calendar year, where you could accumulate another 30,000 points and have a total of 60,000 points to redeem at your convenience!
Are points refunded on unused/canceled/returned orders?
Yes. If you order a label and pay for it with points, for instance, and then end up not using that label, let us know within 30 days and the points will be refunded back into your account to be used at a later date.
Can I insure a shipment paid for with points?
Yes. A Late Delivery claim in this case would allow the points to be refunded back to the customer. A valid DOA claim would be paid with dollars, up to the insured amount.
Does a coupon affect point redemption/earning?
Yes, in a manner of speaking. You earn points (or spend them) based on the final cost of your shipping label. That final cost is determined by any coupon code you might use.
Can I opt out?
Yes. Let us know if that’s what you wish to do, and we’ll take care of it for you.
Can I gift or transfer my points to a friend?
No. Points are not transferable.
Can I use points on Merch (non-supply product orders)?
Points can apply to merch purchased through the Redline Shipping website. They cannot be applied to merch purchased through off-site links.
NOTE: Book your labels accurately! Points cannot be retroactively added on underbooked shipments. Adjustment charges do not earn points.
Review Terms and Conditions for additional information, restrictions, and limitations on Redline Rewards.
Can you help with Exports to countries outside the US?
Redline Shipping can help facilitate the exportation of your animals to a variety of countries outside of the US. This process is far more expensive and involved than any typical domestic shipment, but it can be worth it for a number of different business models. If you’d like to learn more, please continue reading.
In a nutshell, Redline Shipping will set you up with an export agent that will work directly with you to get your animal(s) to their international destination. In most cases, this agent will be Rob Starzman of Designer Ball Pythons. Rob will guide you through obtaining any necessary permits. You’ll ship your animal(s) to him. He will then make sure they receive necessary health checks, keeping them secure and hydrated until they are shipped out to the export ports where they will be placed on a plane and sent on to their destination country.
There are some things that are critical to know about exporting live reptiles.
- It’s Expensive
- It costs many times more than the most expensive domestic shipments (Specific costs will be detailed below)
- It’s Complicated
- Depending on the species you are exporting, special permits may be required to legally ship your animal(s) overseas. All species listed on CITES Appendix II will require a permit to be shipped.
- The most common species requiring such permits are boa constrictors and pythons, some of the most popular animals found in the pet trade
- If you’re unsure about your animal being on the list, you can search the database here: https://www.speciesplus.net/
- To apply for a permit, you’ll need:
- A breeder statement
- Itemized invoice
- The receiver’s information
- Fish & Wildlife takes a long time to issue these permits so if either you or your customer are in a rush, in all likelihood this is not going to work out well.
- Permitting can take anywhere from 2-6 months, once the application has been filed
- Once the permit is received, a scanned copy will be sent to the importer/buyer/customs broker or freight forwarder
- In certain countries, private individuals will have no issues applying for import permits with the necessary authorities. If your customer is unsure, it is recommended they hire a customs broker or freight forwarder to expedite the shipment at the destination port. Clearing customs is a lot less stressful for those who do it regularly.
- Once the import permit is received Rob starts the booking process which is explained below
- Depending on the species you are exporting, special permits may be required to legally ship your animal(s) overseas. All species listed on CITES Appendix II will require a permit to be shipped.
- If your species are not on one of the Appendices, the process of exporting can be much faster and simpler
- Certain countries/ports require health certificates. It is imperative that your customer be aware of the necessity of these before we begin the booking process.
- It is up to the customer to know which permits and health certificates are required
- Health certificates can be obtained by Rob after the animal has arrived at the export facility
- After the CITES permits are acquired and the receiving international airport has been selected, the customs broker will inquire and book an available flight
- At this time, the seller will ship the animal(s) to the export facility
- RedlineShipping.com has created a special coupon code for getting your export animals to the exporter as economically as possible
- Contact us for the code
- This coupon gives you 60% off the FedEx retail price on a shipment
- This special coupon offer is only to be used for incoming shipments to Rob Starzman, and is not to be used for other packages
- If you would like to talk with Redline Shipping about your own custom discount, reach out to Robyn@RedlineShipping.com for great service!
- In the meantime, electronic declarations of value (E-Decs) need to be filed which must match the value of the shipment
- If your customer’s country requires a health certificate the animals will be held in Rob’s temperature and humidity controlled facility while he gets a veterinarian to examine them and send the health certificate out to be endorsed by the USDA
- All animals are hydrated if necessary and then repacked in accordance with IATA guidelines for inspection by a Fish & Wildlife officer
- RedlineShipping.com has created a special coupon code for getting your export animals to the exporter as economically as possible
- Rob uses three main ports: New York (JFK), Miami, and Los Angeles
- Rob is present for all inspections at JFK
- Some shipments are sent to Miami or Los Angeles when the export flights from there are less expensive
- Rob will compare prices between the three and will offer the most economical option to his clients
- Once Fish & Wildlife clears the shipment and reseals the crates for departure, the packages are taken to cargo and loaded onto the flight
- Clients will be provided with all flight info as well as an airway bill number to retrieve their new acquisitions
- What countries can you export to?
- Many Asian countries, such as Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. China is technically possible, but extremely difficult and exports to China usually have to go through Hong Kong first.
- Most European countries
- Are there any specific countries that can’t be exported to?
- Australia, New Zealand, North Korea
- This is not an exhaustive list, just examples of known countries that are a hard NO for exporting to
