Let's talk about the different styles of PVC patches. (You could also do enamel pins- I have a good factory, please inquire- or you could do a traditional embroidered patch, I don't have a source, but they are pretty easy to find)

The PVC patches are a soft rubber style patch. They can be ordered without a velcro back, but for the Redline Project, and attaching to the Redline bag, you will want the velcro backing. For each patch graphic that you do, there is a one-time mold fee, typically $50-$60. Once you pay the initial mold fee, you can re-order patches as you need for just the patch cost and shipping.

The patch style initially got me excited is the 2D PVC technique. Bob's Balls patch is a good example of this-

Each color is its own piece of PVC. There is separation between colors. This means you can't blend colors. You can do "shading", as with the darker blue on the body of the character in Bob's patch. Being 2D, the PVC material is all at the same level, there is no additional depth to it. The Bob's Balls patch is 4" wide on the base and 72 cents per patch.

Go one step fancier and you have the 3D PVC technique. The Redline 3 bar patch and the factory sample duck patch show that depth-

For the Redline 3 bar patch, the red is elevated off the white base. The black is not. For the duck patch, the body, gun, jetpack are all elevated, so they have some depth and texture. Slightly more expensive than the 2D method. The Redline 3 bar patch is 5" long and 60 cents per patch.

For Summer's The Shap patch, we are doing 2D for most of it, but the lizard will be elevated in 3D. That gives the lizard depth and texture, but keeps the price down for the rest of the patch (3" patch for Summer is about $1.15 per patch, it is larger, partly 3D, and pretty detailed).

If you have detailed graphics and/or color blending, you will need to consider either a flat printed patch, or a TPU patch.

Flat printed is just that, high color printing on a flat piece of PVC. We used this technique for the Redline animal box art, and for the Portuguese Pythons mustache patch-

The animal box is 2.5" wide and 76 cents per patch. The Portuguese mustache patch is 2.5" round and 72 cents per patch. Nice detail, fully flat.

The other option for blended and detail graphics is the TPU style-

This patch has print-like detail, but has elevated portions, like the mustache and the text. The TPU mustache patch is $1 per patch. I will be using the TPU style for our Redline Wings design, because of the detail in the graphic, and I want some depth to it-

I think Chris Leone's Otiszilla design would be great in TPU-

You need to decide which method is best for your graphic and application- 2D PVC, 3D PVC, flat print, or TPU. I will post the factory that will work best for each choice shortly.
